“Modern” means visual art that meets the general prevailing taste of a certain time or reflects it. An exact timespan is not defined in the general term of modern art.
From this definition it can be seen that an assessment of modern photographic art and its artists cannot realistically be classed as modern – this can only be viewed retrospectively.
Today’s artwork is classed as contemporary art.
