Inside Sphère-Trames

Highly structured, austere and cold, but seemingly random in detail – this is the first impression of these steel tubes, welded together and installed against the background of a paved road. The fine art photography “Inside Sphère-Trames” takes the observer into the very interior of the three-dimensional work of artist François Morellet.

The unusual proximity of the perspective, the penetration of the structure, let the outer shape of this spherical installation disappear completely. The alignment of the foreground tubes and the image crop were chosen deliberately, introducing structure and at the same time tension into the seemingly random chaos. Variants of this large installation can be found in several European cities, some of them hidden, some of them in exposed location.
