Snowy Tree

It is not only the most spectacular and exotic destination, which offers exceptional beauty. Even less known and less spectacular places can transform into pretty, even outstanding scenes – given the right mood of light. This image has been captured close to the hometown of the photographer in central Germany. High above the city of Jena stands a lonely tree. It was on this plateau, where Napoleon himself led victorious battles. On a bitterly cold day, after heavy snowfall, the winter sun approaches the horizon. Illuminated by the rays of light, the snowy branches seem to glow. All too soon, just minutes from now, the landscape will sink back into the darkness of a cold night.
