Landmannalaugar

Iceland is a fascinating place: The largest volcanic island on earth is located just south of the Arctic Circle. It is characterized by an extreme diversity of landscape and scenery: Active volcanoes, high rocky mountains and glaciers with deep fjords and deserts of rock and sand. Particularly the area around Landmannalaugar seems to match the magical and unreal set of a movie, with its bright mineral colours, its patches of snow still on the mountain slopes and hot springs in the centre of the scenery. This fine art photograph was taken between Landmannalaugar and Landmannahellir. Finally a warm summer day, after a long period of rain. The characteristic reddish-brown rhyolite rocks glow brightly in the long-awaited summer sun.
